Save Money on Diapers and Wipes

Keeping your baby’s bottom clean and clear is an expensive responsibility which comes along with caring for a child. Diapers can cost up to $45 per box, and baby wipes can cost up to $16 per purchase! On a monthly basis, these costs can put a large dent in your bank account. So, I’ve created a few tips which I outline below which will help you save a bundle on diapers and wipes.

Sign up for Pampers’ Gifts to Grow Points Program

Your baby needs diapers on a daily basis. But, as a mom, you’re at liberty to choose whether you to utilize cloth or disposable diapers. Disposable diapers are certainly easier to use, but this option is quite expensive. Therefore, if you opt for disposable diapers, you might as well purchase them from a brand that rewards its loyal customers. Pampers offers a rewards program called gifts to grow.

As a member of this program, you can win gifts ranging from a $3 off coupon, $10 gift certificate or personalized photo cards up to an all-weather stroller, bike or even a food processor. However, you can certainly use your points in order to offset your cost of diapers by applying your points towards a $10 pampers gift certificate (currently set at 1,000 points) or a $3 off pampers coupon (currently set at 150 points). It’s easy to accumulate 150 or even 1,000 points. And the best part about rolling your points into additional diaper purchases is that you’ll receive even more rewards codes by coming very little out-of-pocket. This program is very reminiscent of the CVS Extra Care Program.

You can collect rewards by inputting codes you find inside your diaper packaging onto your account online. Alternatively, you can use your cell phone to text the code. But personally, I’ve always input the codes online and so have my other mommy friends. Points range from just two or three points up to 50 points per package! But generally, they’ll fall between 5 and 10 points.

Tip: if you subscribe to the Gifts to Grow newsletter, you’ll receive periodic free point codes up to 50-points which you can input into the website without the need to purchase a package of diapers.

Make your own Baby Wipes

DIY Wipes

Combat diaper rash and save your dollars by making your own baby wipes. All you’ll need is a roll of paper towels, a tall storage container (Tupperware works just fine!), 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of baby oil and 2 tablespoons of baby shampoo.

Simply mix the water, baby oil and shampoo together; you’ll know it’s ready when the mixture turns a translucent white. Cut the roll of paper towel in half (it should appear to be similar to the size of a roll of toilet paper) and place inside of container. Then, simply drizzle the mixture over the towels and close the lid, give it a nice swirl and let sit for approximately 10-minutes. After 10-minutes, you should be able to easily remove the tube and pull pieces of your baby wipes through the hole.

The cost of baby wipes and diapers can add up over the course of a month. And unfortunately, it’s one of those necessary recurring expenses that can snowball out of control if you shop mindlessly. But, saving money on your baby’s expenses starts with small efforts such as the ones mentioned above.

Over time, these efforts combined with other tips you accumulate will help you make the dollars in your wallet stretch a bit farther. Soon enough, you’ll be slashing your costs in half while still maintaining 100% of the quality. Practice makes perfect, and helping one another edge towards that goal is what the mommy bloggers community is here for.
